The Saps

sapsChicago is home to many musical genres. It’s a blues city, with the down-and-out sounds of the Delta traveling up the Mississippi River and landing in the Windy City. It’s an industrial town, with the late-night house music of the ’80s settling into overnight, near violent dance parties. It’s a soul haven, with hip hop giants permeating out of the city’s South Side. But it’s also a power pop zone, with as pure of a history in pop’s smooth guitar rock spirit as anywhere else on the globe. From Material Issue to Off Broadway to The Smoking Popes, Chicago acts have a knack for melody and an appreciation for big hooks. The Saps are no different, and the Second City foursome falls in line with their hometown brethren by way of giddy choruses, chomping guitar licks, and foot-stomping melodies that are as easy to hum as they are to drum along with.
