The Lemonheads

evandandoSay what you want about Evan Dando’s cover-boy good looks that once landed him on People magazine’s “50 Most Beautiful People” list. Or whisper what you want about his addiction to crack cocaine that sent the singer’s life into a tailspin throughout much of the 1990s. The Lemonheads frontman sure can churn out a melody, and he’s been doing so for more than two decades. His 2003 acoustic solo project aside, the 42-year-old vocalist always has had a knack for nearly flawless albums. Highlighted by his band’s seminal 1992 record It’s a Shame About Ray, Dando has endured long enough to re-align and reform his group away from being the face of mainstream ’90s power pop. With Varshons (a covers record featuring songs from Wire to Christina Aguilera) as well as a fresh studio LP slated by year’s end, Dando is in the midst of his most productive period in years.
