The Hiss, ‘Panic Movement’

By • Jun 22nd, 2004 • Category: Album Reviews

A group of guys with a disdain for personal hygiene and clothes made after the Carter administration, who love their beer, their tattoos and their brand of garage-revival.

Sound familiar? Of course it does.

But what sets The Hiss apart from countless other bands fitting this description is an appreciation for Brit-pop — so much so that the band enlisted former Oasis producer Owen Morris, which led to several spots opening for the Gallaghers. The Liverpudlian influence shines the strongest with Adrian Berrera’s smug vocals on songs like “Not For Hire.”

The slight twist is enough to keep the attention of those burnt out on typical beer-drinking, tattooed, retro garage rockers.
