The Crystal Method

A decade and a half into their career, The Crystal Method’s California electronica continues to provide an ample counterpart to their European brethren a la Paul van Dyk and The Chemical Brothers. Combining rock ‘n’ roll undertones to their hypnotic dance beats, Ken Jordan and Scott Kirkland have compiled an impressive back catalog of singles, mix tapes and LPs of driving groove-friendly clips that convert U.S. rock clubs into U.K. rave houses while channeling the same frenetic energy of open-air festivals a continent away. On the heels of 2007′s Drive, a 45-minute release meant to be utilized as a continuous workout tape, the L.A.-based twosome sounds as slick as ever — culling their synthesizers into happy break-beats that turn darker by the lap. The Crystal Method is planning a new studio album set for release in early 2009, their first proper full-length since 2004′s Grammy-nominated Legion of Boom.
