PJ Harvey, ‘Uh Huh Her’

By • Jun 22nd, 2004 • Category: Album Reviews

Sorry, Karen O and Chan Marshall, Polly Jean Harvey is still the reigning queen of rock ‘n’ roll.

Her first record in four years finds Harvey sticking to the mantra never to make two similar records. Her seventh release falls somewhere between the rawest moments of her early Steve Albini collaborations and the complex structures of 2000’s masterpiece, “Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea.” Though recent years have seen Harvey dabbling in her lighter side, she has taken steps to return to her rawest form.

With liner notes stating “All that matters is my voice and my story,” it seems this 35-year-old has finally realized what we love most about her.
