Coheed and Cambria

coheed and cambriaNothing says “fun summer concert in a park by the beach” like epic stories of prog-rock posturing, right? What could be more appropriate music for the casual passersby culture of an outdoor festival than intricate storylines based on character-driven tales of the apocalypse? And who is better equipped for Chicago’s sweltering August heat than four black-clad musicians hidden beneath tangled, flowing locks? Despite all the elements stacked against Coheed and Cambria, the New York outfit consistently has made the summer festival circuit a part of its touring routine since the band’s 1995 formation. In doing so they’ve created a live subset to their album series, which chronicles a consistent narrative through multiple LPs. Currently working on a prequel album, which has been rumored for a winter 2009 release, singer Claudio Sanchez & Company are positioned for another comic-book themed run at genre dominance.
