Secret Machines, ‘Now Here is Nowhere’

Ever wonder how it would sound if a band from Texas grew up listening to Pink Floyd, moved to New York and befriended The Strokes, Longwave and Interpol?

Secret Machines is proof it would sound marvelous.

The wall-of-sound guitars drift in and out of lengthy jam sessions full of spacey experimentation. When they do manage to hone in the songs, the result is a hard-rocking display of catchy hooks, driving rhythms and breathy vocals.

The trio successfully walks the line between the concept records of the 1970s and contemporary rock ’n’ roll — a line that has never seemed this enticing.
