Common

Common is a liar. But he can be forgiven for such disingenuousness due to the fact that his tall tales aren’t typical claims of grandeur by a performer who thinks he or she is bigger than they are. The Chicago native is the exact opposite; he has the audacity to still call himself “common” after backing out as the opener for Kanye West’s recent tour to film a movie instead. His career choices, much like his musical output, are anything but routine — especially last year’s critically acclaimed Be, an album blending Motown-esque R&B with refreshingly introverted hip-hop. And assuming West doesn’t hold a grudge against his hometown counterpart for choosing Hollywood over his arena tour, don’t be surprised if the two end up sharing the stage at some point this weekend.
